All Victoria Police Helicopters are fitted with a video camera (can see a vehicles number plate at 300ft which feeds live pictures to the VPC in Melbourne), Forward-Looking Infra Red (FLIR), Fire Scan equipment, Police, Ambulance, CFA, MFESB, radios, 2 aviation radios, and two HF Transceivers.

Marine Band:

Marine Ch 67 (156.3750)

Marine Ch 16 (156.8000)

And can also “come up” on any VHF Marine Frequency

National Police UHF Ch’s 21 & 43

Note: Albury (NSW) and Wodonga (Vic) Police communicate either direct or via VKC Wangaratta or VKG Wagga Wagga.

Ie. A Wodonga 308 wishing to speak to Albury 16 may call him direct on UHF Ch 21, or via VKG Wagga, asking for Albury 16.

From time to time, VKG (or vice versa) officers may carry out policing duties on behalf of VKC, and the NSW officer will reply to both VKG Wagga and VKC Wangaratta.

Police 4WD Club:

161.3500

Alpine Resorts Commission:

467.6250

VK737 National 4wd HF Radio Network:

5.4550 MHz USB

8.0220 MHz USB-Call Channel

11.6120 MHz USB

14.9770 MHz USB

3.9550 MHz USB

Notes:

  1. The above list contains frequencies which the Victoria Police Officers have direct access to (no patching)
  2. Vic Police can ‘patch’ in to any radio network they like in Australia
  3. It is, in my opinion, better to program these frequencies into their relevant bank (rather than in the bank with police), as the services listed have many other channels which the police do not access nor use.
