All Victoria Police Helicopters are owned and operated by CHC Helicopters Pty Ltd (formerly LLOYD Helicopters)
All Vic Pol choppers were manufactured in France by EuroCopter Pty Ltd.
Notes:
1.
On the Aviation Band, Police Helicopters callsigns are
PolAir 31, 32 etc. And from time to time the callsign is their registration
PVF, PVH etc
2.
On the Police UHF & VHF Bands the callsigns are AIR 494,
495 etc
3.
On the Ambulance UHF & VHF network the callsign is HEMS
1 or HeliMed 1, 2, etc
4.
The Air Ambulance helicopter identifies on any radio service
as AIR 495.
5.
The Police helicopters are authorised to operate at as low
as 300ft over Metro Melbourne.
6. Helicopters from other services, assisting police identify as “<service> 499” ie Channel 9 499 if it’s the GTV 9 chopper.
