New South Wales Police Service-VKG Old Callsigns (Pre Olympic Games-2000)

These are the old, pre 2000, VKG Callsigns, which are still sometimes used because of an industrial dispute (or where an officer doesn’t know new code, they will use the older system)

Remember that many of these callsigns are the same, or similar to, the current call sign system, as the new callsign system, was, in part, based on the old system. I have provide both callsigns as I’ve found that in many states, (Including Vic) country, regional and remote areas take longer to change to new systems and in some cases never do. (Ie problems found with new Comms System so they elect to stay on current system as with the CFA[Vic], which could have, but didn’t change networks until three years later than the official change-over date!!!

Only some of these callsigns remain in use (2003) and it is expected that their use will be phased out. Observation of units whilst on the radio will be the best ways to tell what set of callsigns are currently in use for your area.
