WA Fire Overview/Summary
In
Western Australia the Fire & Emergency Services Authority is responsible
for the WA Fire Brigade, now known as FESA Fire & Rescue that has 830 staff
firefghters and 2,500 volunteers that combat fires in urban areas. Outside
urban areas, WA’s 144 local governments administer their local Volunteer Bush
Fire Brigade outside urban areas and receive assistance, guidance and training
from FESA. Both WA FESA Fire Brigades
and VBFBs share the same low band VHF radio network, with the VBFB’s having
some of their own high band VHF frequencies. VBFBs are responsible for fire
suppression in bushland and on agricultural properties. The WA Department of
Conservation & Land Management-CALM (Not part of FESA) is also a fire
fighting authority in WA, and like most states CALM is responsible for fire
prevention & suppression in all Crown Land such as State & National
Parks etc.
FESA
also administer the WA Volunteer Marine Rescue and the WA SES. So you can find fire emergencies in WA on the
“FESA Radio Network” which includes the WAFB, almost all VBFBs and CALM, with
each having some ‘exclusive’ and HF frequencies as well. These frequencies can
be found at the WA
Fire Index.
