Forest Industry Brigades (FIB)
What are they and what do they do?
Forest Industry Brigades
operate under State Government legislation that requires forest plantation
companies with more than an area of 500 hectares under plantation and within a
25 kilometre radius, to establish their own fire fighting brigades for the purposes
of protecting their own land without tying up CFA resources in the case of
major bushfire.
These fire fighters are
trained to CFA standards, follow CFA procedure and protocols, and share the
CFA’s infrastructure at their cost. (CFA Radio’s, turn-out gear-supply of
except that the plantation companies have to pay for everything.)
There are currently 27 Forest
Industry Brigades (FIB) in State Of Victoria
