The
TFS is unique in Australia as both the urban and rural fire brigades are the
one entity, all brigades, whether in Hobart or Port Arthur, Devonport or Burnie
all operate under the TFS, and as such they all share the same radio network.
Volunteers form the bulk of the TFS, with only four TFS stations having paid (retained
or career) firefghters.
